Best Macros for Marksmanship Hunter
1.1.
Generic Macros for Hunters
1.1.1.
Mouseover Interrupt and Focus Mouseover
- #showtooltip
- /use [@focus,exists,nodead][]Counter Shot
- #showtooltip
- /use [@focus,exists,nodead][]Muzzle
- #showtooltip
- /focus [@mouseover,nodead,exists];[@target,exists]
The top macro will interrupt your Focus target if available, or otherwiseinterrupt your target.
The bottom macro will let you easily Focus target whatever you are holdingyour mouse over.
Using these two macros together will let you be extremely flexible when itcomes to interrupting in Mythic+ and is invaluable for high-end play wheremissed interrupts are not an option.
1.1.2.
Kill Shot Mouseover Macro
- #showtooltip
- /use [@mouseover,exists,harm][]Kill Shot
- /use [@pettarget]Claw
- /use [@pettarget]Bite
- /use [@pettarget]Smack
In hectic AoE scenarios such as Mythic+, it is beneficial to get as many Kill Shots off as possible, but it can be difficult to navigate a tonof nameplates to select a target that is below 20% health. Using this macro, you can simply keep your mouse over the nameplate that is sub-20% health andactivate it to fire Kill Shot on that target.
If you do not have an appropriate mouseover target, then it will simply use Kill Shot on your current target.
1.1.3.
"AutoMisdirection" Macro (Requires WeakAuras)
This macro is extremely convenient. It will automatically use Misdirection on the group's Tank if there is one. If you are not in agroup, it will use it on your Pet instead. You need to install thisAuto Tank Misdirect WeakAura. This isrequired for the macro to do anything.
- #showtooltip [known:Interlope] Interlope; #showtooltip [noknown:Interlope] Misdirection
- /click SmartMisdirect LeftButton 1
- /click SmartMisdirect LeftButton 0
1.1.4.
Trap/Flare Cursor Macros
There have recently been added special macro modifiers that allow you tocast traps or other ground-targetable effects in different ways. To make useof these, simply make a macro that says "/use [@???] Tar Trap" forexample, where "@???" can be replaced with:
- @cursor to place the trap directly where your mouse is when you hit thebind.
- @player to place the trap directly underneath your character.
- #showtooltip
- /use [@cursor]Steel Trap
- #showtooltip
- /use [@cursor]Tar Trap
- #showtooltip
- /use [@cursor]Freezing Trap
- #showtooltip
- /use [@cursor]Flare
1.1.5.
Petattack Macros
It is a good idea to include a command to force your pet to switch to yourcurrent important target. We recommend tying this line to abilities like Kill Command for Beast Mastery Hunters, Aimed Shot for Marksmanship Hunters, and Kill Command for Survival Hunters, as these are abilitiesyou tend to use on your primary target. For Beast Mastery, it should also beput in your Multi-Shot macro, so that you can useyour Multi-Shot button to also manage your pet's target, and thus its positionto maximize Beast Cleave benefit.
- #showtooltip Kill Command
- /petattack
- /use Kill Command
- #showtooltip Multi-Shot
- /petattack
- /use Multi-Shot
- #showtooltip Aimed Shot
- /petattack
- /use Aimed Shot
1.2.
Macros for Marksmanship Hunters
1.2.1.
Nochanneling Rapid Fire Macros
For optimal DPS, you should be spamming your buttons all the time, even ifyou are already casting something else. This can be problematic with Rapid Fire and other channeled abilities. To help with this, Irecommend putting Nochanneling lines into your ability macros. With this, spamming the button will not stop your Rapid Fire channel, and will ensure thatyou always get a full Rapid Fire.
- /use [nochanneling:Rapid Fire]Aimed Shot
This is just an example of how an Aimed Shot line might look withnochanneling added. Feel free to copy this line into other macros, exchanging"Aimed Shot" as you go.
1.2.2.
Salvo Volley Macro
- #showtooltip Volley
- /use Salvo
- /use [@cursor]Volley
This macro will automatically use Salvo with your Volley, which is where you would use it pretty much all of the time anyway. You shouldno longer need to have Salvo on your bars using this macro, as these talentsare almost exclusively used together.
1.2.3.
Focus Kick/Stun Macros
- #showtooltip
- /stopcasting
- /stopcasting
- /cast [@focus,exists,nodead][@mouseover,exists,nodead] [] Counter Shot
This Macro will kick your Focus > Mouseover > Target, in thatorder of priority. We recommend pairing it with the Focus Mouseover macro below,so that you can quickly set a new Focus target by mousing over the target andhitting the macro.
- /focus [@mouseover]

Best Addons for Marksmanship Hunter in Dragonflight
3.1.
Generic Addons for Hunters
3.2.
ElvUI
Here, at Icy Veins, we useElvUIfor all our characters. This addon is a complete replacement of the defaultUser Interface. It comes with almost everything you need to perform properly:action bars, cooldown timers, proc display, etc.
We strongly recommend that you get this addon and our forum moderator Pandacho has writtena quick configuration guide for it.
3.2.1.
Weak Auras
WeakAuras is anextremely useful addon that allows you to have visual effects on your screen, helping you track your buffs, debuffs and cooldowns. It is highly customisableand it can make it much, much easier to keep track of your procs and play yourspec more proficiently. It can also be used for a variety of otherfunctions.
3.2.2.
Boss Mods: Deadly Boss Mods or Bigwigs
Boss mods are addons that warn you about boss abilities and give youlive advice on how to handle some mechanics. We strongly recommend you toget one such addon. At Icy Veins, we mostly useDeadly Boss Mods, the most popular boss mod. A good alternative isBig Wigs.
3.2.3.
Details!
"Details!" Damage Meter is a real-time DPS/HPS meter with a lot of additional functionality such as being able to see cooldowns, buffs, debuffs, damage done to specific targets, and statistical analysis. In our opinion, it is superior to Skada in terms of functionality, although it is slightly more complicated to configure. We recommend Details! as your default damage meter, but if you prefer something easier, then Skada is still a good option.
3.2.4.
GTFO
GTFO is a lightweightaddon that notifies you when you are standing in harmful effects or when youare making other such mistakes. It is very useful, even if your boss mod isalready alerting you of such things.
3.3.
Specific Addons for Marksmanship Hunters
Currently, we feel that there is no need for additional addons to play aMarksmanship Hunter to its full potential.
