The 50 best gift shops in Oahu (2024)

The famous Dole Plantation, once a pineapple plantation of historical significance, now attracts families with its train ride and expansive 3-acre garden maze. If you're heading towards North Shore, don't forget to stop by this tourist attraction for some delectable fresh pineapple slices. They also offer the popular Dole Whip, a delightful treat similar to what you can find outside Disneyland's Tikki Room.

It's free to go here but if you want to do the maze, train, and self-guided tour, you'll be paying up to $27 per adult. All of these attractions are fun and cute, very family friendly too. The maze is well done with 6ft hedges and points of interest to compel you through it.The gift shop is the main attraction though and it's a formidable tourist trap with many cute and tasty items. After sampling the overpriced candy and plushies, I'd have to recommend their Dole Pineapple soft serve with pineapple toppings. That was awesome!Go here, it's cute and fun. You'll be there for 2 hours max.

Definitely recommend, perfect for everyone. A day trip, couples, families, etc. The pineapple maze and train ride are educational and fun. Well worth the trip and the restaurant to showcase the natural and delicious pineapple flavor. You have to try the Dole pineapple whip and so many goodies including the different flavor shortbread cookies and chocolates. Don't forget to check out the unique jewelry and handmade crafts!! Thank you for a wonderful visit...

Dole plantation has some interesting things to do with kids. We went in for ice cream which was pineapple flavor and it was too sweet for me. They have everything pineapple in the gift shop. The maze looks pretty interesting but takes a whole 40 minutes to complete. I came outside to eat some corn on the Cobb with chili lime. I liked that more than anything inside. If you have kids and want to entertain them, it is recommended.

We visited the Dole Plantation as a quick stop and for lunch. The train ride throughout the plantation was very nice. Lots of different crops growing in the fields. I would definitely recommend the train ride. Although the line may look very long, it does move quickly. We did not do the maze or the gardens. We do see the gardens on the train. Lunch was excellent and pretty reasonably priced. Dole whip is a must!!!!!!! Gift shop is very big and lots of really nice souvenirs. We spent about 2-3 hours and felt it was plenty of time. Tickets cannot be reserved and have to buy in person on the day you visit. I would recommend getting there around the time they open as it was very busy when we were leaving. It’s free to enter and just have to pay for train, maze and gardens.

Great spot but I wouldn’t go back. The workers are friendly and sweet, the dole whip was good but not my favourite. It’s a bit on the sweeter side. The garden tour was alright, you walk through the garden and enjoy the pond which is seen in the last photo. The pineapple tour was probably my favourite but the line took almost about an hour or more just waiting in the sun. And I thought we went early, we arrived at around 10am on a weekday. I would suggest saving your time and money and going somewhere else if a friend were to asked for suggestions.

We really enjoyed our stop here, wish we would have planned more time to be here. The lines for food and tickets are quite long, so be prepared and get there early. The food was quite good, and of course the Dole Whip is amazing! The candied nuts from the small kiosk are really good too.Fresh pineapple steals the show though! I’ve never had pineapple this good, not even close. Definitely catch the pineapple cutting demo, and try some pineapple with Li Hing powder (plum based powder) added. I wish we would have shipped some pineapples home, it was so disappointing eating one locally when we got home.My kids really enjoyed the souvenir shop too, there was a really wide variety of mostly reasonably priced items. The pineapple scented candles are amazing, but they burn really fast, so watch out. My pineapple candle was gone too soon 😭They also had a limited release wheat beer from Kona brewing company that I was kicking myself for not buying, I couldn’t find it anywhere else on the island while I was there.

What an amazing tourist attraction to learn the history of the Dole Plantation. It's great for all ages. The shop is super cute. The ice cream is a must try. I highly suggest going when it's not too hot. We couldn't do the maze because we would have melted out there. But train ride was worth it and educational.

Traveling to the area and want to see more than what most the tourist care for? Well read on. We went to the store and where the train, gardens, and etc was. The dole whip was good. You gotta get it. Many different vendors there also. But, walk across the street and catch the plant tour. Stacie was an awesome guide and took time with my children to make sure they understood the operation. She even shared some interesting tid bits about how pineapples are grown and how to pick out a good one. Office is to the right of the door in the parking lot. Don’t miss it! Not going to spoil it with a lot of photos.

What a fun place to learn about how the simple pineapple turned into a worldwide giant. They offer lots of food at the cafe, sweets including the Dole Whip (gluten free and dairy free, yum!), plantation train tour, garden walk (with beautiful plants and photo spots), the world's largest maze, and a huge store to buy all things pineapple. They even do pineapple cutting demos and show how chocolate is made. Didn't miss that sample! It's divine. Great place for families and visitors of all ages.

Great experience its free was pretty busy around 1pm. The gift shop was busy. The food court was also busy pretty quick with getting people order taken. Things moved pretty fast. We got to see a pineapple cutting and taste a yummy pineapple 🍍😋Very nice seeing pineapple plants and cool looking trees and lizards.

Great stop on the way to the North shore… it is a drive away but totally worth it. The small gift shop has a lot of cool snacks and gift ideas . If you get hungry there is a lot more then just the soft whip pineapple dole ice cream to eat. I would recommend on taking the short tour on the Pineapple Express train not only for the ride but also the cool facts and information that you learn on the way. But if the ride is not your thing taking a walk on the garden maze is a lot of fun.

Learned a lot, ate a lot, had a great time. Beautiful and interesting. A train ride, the gardens and the maze are fun. Grille has great food and the required Dole Whip for dessert. Well worth the visit.

The storefront area and eatery were all free to the public; however, the train ride that gives you the historical background and views of the pineapple fields does cost. We were there on a Saturday afternoon and there was an hour wait to go on the train so we opted out. But we did indulge in some Dole Whip soft serve and a fresh pineapple bowl. The layout is worth visiting. Who would ever think that there would be such a marketing brand with Dole?

Fun experience for the whole family! There is a world-famous pineapple maze, a train ride through the pineapple fields, and a garden to stroll through. There is a very large souvenir shop with a variety of mementos. You could easily spend half a day here. The dole whip is delicious!!

Erin Jeckel — Google review

This place was a very good past time. The treats that they offer are pretty nice (try the Dole Whip with Pineapples). We also went through the 🍍 Maze which was pretty cool. They also have a train that goes around and shows you the history of the pineapples but we didn't get a chance to do that due to the wait time being too long. Overall, very good place to check out.

Kitschy and touristy but fun. Not overpriced and plenty of parking. The tour was great, but got the sense that it was meant to push people through for maximum profit. Focus seemed to be the gift shop. Not too much in the way of the historical interpretation and obviously didn't dig too much into the complex history and the implications of the industry, nor the impact the industry had on the island and its people. I guess that's to be expected. Pineapple tastes great though! And they had an enlightening demonstration on how to cut a pineapple.

My wife and I were able to tour the grounds but we did not take the train ride. We did the walking tour which is basically going through the gift shop and walking around the outside. Looking at some of the plants and the fish and other miscellaneous things they have here. It's a great place for anybody looking to do something touristy. I would also recommend trying the pineapple ice cream/sherbet it was really good and probably a bit overpriced. Overall the experience was great and I would recommend going if you never have before.

We enjoyed the train ride through the plantation which was both educational and fun! There's a lot to see on the plantation and I suggest selecting one of the tours to see it. The store was awesome! We purchased some of the dole whip and coffee which were both delicious. The earlier you go the easier your visit will be as it does get crowded later in the day. If you go early the line for the train will be fast and easy! The store was pretty crowded but was not too long of a wait. A very fun adventure for your kids and family!

Place was super cute. Stopped on our way back from north shore to south shore. Was pleasantly surprised. Got the dole whip (you HAVE to- I don’t even like pineapple that much and it was amazing), and got the corn in the cob. The place is adorable and definitely busy as heck but worth the wait.

Alyssa Jane — Google review

Worth the visit! Food was excellent. We planned to do the train and the maze but the train took longer than we thought so skipped the maze. Took almost an hour from starting to wait for the train (after buying tickets) to when we were on the train. Then another 30 or so minutes on the train itself. The train was calm and relaxing and gave you a good history. My young kids weren't as excited as I thought they would be. Still a nice visit!

Brian Caines — Google review

Fun place to visit. The wait for the train is often 45 mins or more. The maze takes anywhere from 30 minutes to over an hour. The shops inside offer everything from pineapple glazed nuts to food and souvenirs. The shop has so many freaking cute things. And the smoothie is a must try. Love the place.

Great fun and entry is free. If you want to see the large garden and/or the express train ride, those are at addition cost. We had a great time walking around, taking pictures, buying souvenirs and paying fir the express train ride. Contrary to some reviews, the food here was really good and the portions very large. Some of the better foods I've had on Oahu, especially for the price. Highly recommend a visit. Wish the walking area on the grounds was larger. Great place to take pictures.

This was the last stop of our tour and it was just OK. There were lots of souvenirs to buy inside (it felt like a typical tourist trap). The best part was probably the food sold from trucks outside. They had some grilled corn that smelled delicious, but we did not try any. My husband ordered a large Dole Whip. I tried it and it was delicious. It has a smooth, creamy texture like ice cream without the dairy. It's worth a quick trip, but not worth it stay for more than an hour or so.

Ami McKinney — Google review

Free to enter and puruse the food and shops, although you will need to pay to see more of the plantation via the train ride, or self-guided walking tour of the garden. Staff were friendly and easy-going and the shops were full of fun, pineapple-themed foods, jewelry, dishes, t-shirts and more. One tip, get there when they open and jump on the train first, otherwise the line will get surprisingly long very quickly!

Such a fun and interesting place. We did the train ride and the plantation garden…it was only about $20 for both. Train ride was comfortable and they shared information about the plantation. The garden was beautiful and self paced. Be sure to check out the store…lots of goodies!

This was definitely a cool spot to visit during our time on Oahu. The drive up seeing miles and miles of pineapples and beautiful red soil is definitely something to remember. I loved seeing all the different pineapple varieties they had in the small garden. The train that goes around the area, the soft serve, and the maze make it a fun place to spend an hour or two in the sunshine

Place gets packed, arrived 9:24am and parking lot was already busy. Train ride was interactive and some insides about the brand but nothing to wow the crowd. Pineapple maze looked and sound fun but it's not maintained correctly. Spent 20$+ on mediocre experience and standing in lines. Decent pineapple soft serve by the souvenir store.

Marcin Glowacki — Google review

Technically free to visit, the main attractions are a botanical garden, a tropical maze, and a train ride, each with costs that'll add up. The maze was confirmed by Guinness as the biggest, but you can come and go (you won't get lost for an hour). The train ride was informative (best bet), and the gift shopping was substantial. Get a Dole Whip, too, but they're big enough to split.

We visited the Dole Plantation around 3 o'clock, but since it was closing at 5:30, we had doubts about whether we could finish seeing everything. However, we managed our time well. It's the best place to get coconut water. We purchased combo tickets for the train, garden, and maze. The train journey was enjoyable as we got to see all parts of the plantation.Near the garden entrance, they sell pineapple-coated nuts which tasted amazing, albeit expensive. I highly recommend trying them for their unique flavor.I expected to see more flowers in the garden, it was slightly disappointing. However, the maze was truly amazing. We had a great time doing the activity as a family, and both my 10-year-old and 4-year-old thoroughly enjoyed it.We waited in line to get Dole Whip, and while it tasted good, I wish they offered a separate portion for kids. Introducing this option would be helpful for many parents and reduce wastage.

I absolutely love this place!! Lots of things to do for the entire family. There’s a maze to navigate, pineapple ice cream (lots of it) to enjoy, a train ride through the plantation, a botanical garden and lastly…relaxation! We visited during the week and it was busy, but we found parking (which was the greatest challenge)…it’s a free parking lot. The lines moved quickly, so for us, we didn’t need to pre-purchase tickets, but I would probably recommend it. This is a definite visit!

We skipped the experience and went straight to the large gift shop to eat the Dole Whip. Amazing! Totally worth coming here for it. I got pineapple chunks on mine but coconut flakes additionally would be good too. Really cool rainbow Eucalyptus trees outside! Crowded but not too bad.

That’s a great place to see how grow various plantation plants such as pineapple, cocoa, coffee, bananas, avocado, lime , jackfruit and some more. You can purchase a single ticket or packages offer ( train , garden, maze). There is a huge shop with souvenirs as well as sweets, coffee , cosmetics, t-shirts and much more. If you take a pineapple desert - that could certainly serve 2 people. Family and kids friendly.

Szymon Smoleński — Google review

Yes, this is for tourists and everything is more expensive. I still liked the maze and garden, didn’t do the train as it was an hour wait time. The pineapple ice cream was the highlight of the trip. Just get the plain ice cream in the cup or cone as it was a lot. The maze was lots of fun; we had the kids lead the way, so yep got my steps in that day and 50 minutes is our record finding all the points.

Justin Bereiter — Google review

Gift shop is amazing. The DOLE WHIP is delicious. The cute little kitties hanging around giving good vibes. The food was delicious. The train line was holy moly long so we decided to spend more time just walking around and looking at the different pineapples growing along the pathway.

Milo Lack — Google review

Here are my immediate suggestions. If you are visiting with a large family, there are lines here. One of the most sought after attraction is the train ride where you ride by various plants and harvests. With the nature of how many people there are and the train moving at train speeds, you should visit as early as possible and make time of about 4 hours to go through everything without rushing. The world's largest maze is also an option, but we waited for so long for the train (about 2 hours) that we just wanted to head back into town. Mind you, we were there pretty early. To summarize, the plantation is a huge history trip with some pineapple cutting events and cocoa events. With this being said, that is the most exciting minus the whip ice cream and gift shop. There is also a coffee shop and a fast food burger spot.
