And not just FC- for awhile now, Ive seen C+ sold out on routes like JFK-LAX often weeks in advance. Of course, Im not sure how much of that is paid C+ and buyups vs Plats and above getting it at booking, but Id speculate its a lot of the latter.

Yup - Im predicting DL enhancements to be announced in Fall 2025 for the 2026 qualifying year.

I certainly didn't come back, and I flew airlines I never thought I would.
I am super satisfied with my decision. I discovered that other airlines are equally good (if not better in certain aspects), and my money is put in good use in airlines that may be smaller but do not intend to create a monopolistic market.
I find my new approach to be more sustainable and thoughtful where smaller players are supported for growth.

The thing is, whenever suggestions of this type are made, as with this blog piece, the ones making the suggestions always want changes that will benefit themselves. Notice how Rene never mentions the possibility of higher qualification requirements? Doubt he would be pushing for rollover again if it would be coupled with that.
I, too, have stopped reading Rene's blog long ago. He and his co-blogger keep insisting that they're done with DL, and yet when they put these types of articles out there, they hope that FTers will amplify it so that corporate will somehow change their minds (wishful thinking?).
I doubt there will be any rollover MQDs, as there are choice benefits for MQD boosts, right?

Interesting take. I wouldnt be surprised if the DL (& Amex) bean counters decide to bump up the thresholds again (e.g. DM at 35k MQDs), and introduce rollover MQDs to encourage Amex spend.
The linked article seems to be from the perspective of someone who CC-buys status moreso than earning status through flights. Also, I fully expect DL to raise the DM threshold to $35K MQD, likely for 2026. I suspect that the lack of rollover MQD is to give DL an idea of where above-threshold spending falls out, as a key data point in determining where the eventual MQD thresholds should land.

Absolutely this. The only way I'll make use of the Delta Stays credit is if I plan a trip somewhere that I can't feasibly stay at a Marriott property.

+1
I am also finding I can attain the status I want without manufactured spend.

They should have just raised the GM/PM Amex waiver without overhauling the whole program to reward - amazingly - MMs, who have no reason to increase marginal spend.
Now, predictably, no one is incentivized to use the cards after they attain their highest possible status. We figured this out the day of the announcement, so I have no idea who they had sitting around the boardroom table that didn't see it coming.

I keep thinking the same thing. The way this was initially conceived and rolled out should have resulted in a number of firings, but judging from the "correction" they missed that opportunity. Maybe they should have let the interns think this through before rolling it out. Seriously though, given the value and profitability of the program the board needs to be a lot more concerned about it.

Just as an FYI, on both my Delta Stays (at Marriotts) this year, I successfully obtained at least some of my Titanium benefits by asking the front desk. This past weekend at Marriott Fort Lauderdale Airport I got M Club access, and I got late checkout at a Fairfield Inn in the Atlanta area a few months ago (These were the only benefits I asked for). So two basically free stays, where I got Delta miles, MQDs, and got some Marriott benefits as well.

DL can do whatever they want. Without an increase in F seats or a decrease in people flying there will not be an change.
No matter what they do, DL won't change the fact that they would rather sell an upgrade as opposed to give it to someone.
